There are two types of Taxi in Oxford, black cabs and private hire vehicles. There are designated Taxi ranks for black cabs in Oxford at Oxford train station, close to the bus station, St Giles and Conrmarket street. You are also able to flag down a black cab in the street.
Private hire vehicles are for telephone order only and it is not legal to flag down a private hire vehicle. Normally private hire cars are cheaper than black cabs so if you know where you are going and what time you need a cab, book ahead. Some of the most popular companies in Oxford are:
