There are no direct trains between Oxford and Stansted but you can take the Stansted Express train to London where you can catch another train for GBP 32-34.
The main provider of direct bus services to Oxford is National Express, who run eight direct buses a day from Stansted to Oxford. There are no direct trains between Oxford and Stansted but you can take the Stansted Express train to London, then use the underground to get to Paddington where you can catch the train to Oxford for GBP 32-34.
Another option is to take a Terravision bus from Stansted Airport to Victoria Coach Station in London which takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and costs 8 GBP one way. Then take a bus from Victoria coach station direct to Oxford. A more expensive alternative would be to take the underground to Paddington railway station and then take the train from Paddington to Oxford which takes about an hour and costs about 30 GBP return (cheaper if booked in advance). A route via London will probably be cheaper than a direct bus to Oxford and may be your only way to make the connection if you arrive late at night at Stansted. Be warned though, this route between Stansted and Oxford is likely to take much longer due to central London traffic. Once in London buses from London to Oxford run frequently and cost 15 - 18 GBP return meaning you could do the whole trip for 34 GBP rather than 42 GBP.
The cheapest option, but the longest time, is to take an Easyjet bus from Stansted Airport to Victoria Coach Station (cost from 2 GBP). You can then pick up a Megabus (discount bus service) at Victoria to Oxford (cost from 1 GBP for a single).
Another slight variation would be to get off the Easybus in North London at Baker Street rather than Victoria in South London. From Baker Street you can take the underground to Paddington to catch the train to Oxford or Marble Arch station where you can pick up one of the Oxford buses that connect Victoria and Oxford (approx 15 - 18 GBP return as above). If you are feeling energetic you could also walk from Baker Street to Paddington!
If you are travelling in a group you may find it easiest and most cost effective to hire a car. This is particularly true if your flight is early in the morning or late at night when public transport does not run. To check car rental prices at Stansted click the link below:
