Oxford Brookes University has three main campuses that are a little further out from the city centre. The first is the Wheatley Campus which is near a small village called Wheatley seven miles south-east of the city centre and is where IT, business, maths and engineering are based. The second campus is at Harcourt Hill about two miles from the city centre. Many subject including Theology and Education are taught at this site. The main campus with the student union is at the Headington Campus and it is located in a suburb of Oxford known as Headington about a mile from the city centre.
There are approximately 19,000 students at Oxford Brookes and it is famed for its Department of Architecture which is one of the largest in the UK and in 2006 was named as the leading school of architecture outside London.
