The choice of Youth Hostels in Oxford is limited and they get booked up quickly so it is advisable to book ahead. The main hostels are located in the west end of Oxford close to the bus station, the railway station and the megabus drop off point. Oxford Backpackers Hostel

Oxford Backpackers Hostel There are not many youth hostels or hostels in Oxford to choose from but the Oxford Backpackers Hostel is probably one of the longest established. Located on Hythe Bridge Street opposite the Bangkok House restaurant and between the bus station and the railway station it is very centrally located and good for the city nightlife along George Street. If you are looking for something quiter this is probably not the quietest of locations. It does have reasonable facilities with a bar, internet and a kitchen.

Central Backpackers Hostel

Central Backpackers Hostel almost backs on to Oxford Backpackers so if one is full you can easily pop around to the other. It is located in the west end of Oxford, a 5 minute walk from both the bus station and the train station and the centre of Oxford's Historical University city. Park End street along with George street are the centre of Oxford's nightlife and are both lined with restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs and are generally pretty lively most evenings.

Oxford YHA Hostel

The YHA in Oxford is relatively new being opened in 2001. If you are looking for a cheap hotel or budget accommodation this might be worth considering due to the high cost of accomodation elsewhere in Oxford. In fact in some reviews this has been voted the best budget accomodation in Oxford. The youth hostel is also located in the heart of the city right next to the railway station making it very convenient if you arrive by train. Most rooms are en-suite and breakfast is included in the price. Guests can also take advantage of a modern cafe bar serving local beers and a great value menu. The only possible downside is the close proximity to the railway station which might make it a little noisy at times.
