This is a strange nomination for one of the best hotels in Oxford because it was formerly a prison, but it has been transformed in to an award winning luxury hotel maintaining many of the original features - worth a visit even if you dont stay there! Our recommended best hotels are listed below based on local knowledge and feedback, we hope you agree!

Le Manoir, is well what can we say, very expensive, but reputedly well worth it if you feel like spoiling yourself or your other half! To quote the great man himself "Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons is the fulfilment of a personal vision, a dream that one day I would create a hotel and restaurant in harmony where my guests would find perfection in food, comfort, service and welcome." What makes this hotel so special is that it has been converted from a prison, but has managed to keep many of the unusual original features.
