Railway Station
Oxford is a mainline railway station and is about ten minutes walk to the west of the city centre. The train line links to Birmingham in the north and Reading and London to the South East. It is also on the line for express trains from London Paddington to Hereford via Worcester. The station is operated by First Great Western, and also used by Virgin Trains.

Opening Times
The station is pretty much open 24 hours a day but during the early morning hours there are very few if any trains running. A useful service run by national rail enquiries allows you to see all the trains that are arriving and departing. Take a look at their website

Bus Station
Gloucester Green Bus Station is the main bus station in Oxford. It is a 5 minute walk from the city centre. Buses leave from here to London, Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and other national destinations. Most buses do not take credit card so make sure you have enough cash. The fair to Gatwick airport is approximately 27 pounds return.

Thornhill Car Park
Thornhill Park and Ride is the Eastern most car park with very regular buses to the city centre forming part of the park and ride service. This is most appropriate if you are approaching Oxford from London along the M40 to A40 route.
It takes 15 - 20 minutes to get to Oxford City Centre.

Redbridge park and ride is the Southern most car park with very regular buses to the city centre. This is most appropriate if you are approaching Oxford from the south along the A34, A4183 or A4074.
It takes about 8 - 12 minutes to get to Oxford City Centre.

Oxford airport also known as Kidlington airport primarily serves light aircraft. But if you are lucky enough to own a plane you may well end up here! The airport is not walking distance to the city centre so you will need to get a cab or take one of the irregular buses.

Getting to Oxford from Heathrow airport by bus takes about 80 minutes. Heathrow central bus station serves Heathrow terminals 1, 2 and 3. Buses from Heathrow terminal 4 take slightly longer, 100 minutes to get to Oxford. All the buses from Heathrow take you to the centre of Oxford, Gloucester Green, there are a few other stop in Oxford on the way into the centre. London to Oxford by train
Trains from London to Oxford run from Paddington Station. There is a regular service that runs from 6:00am to 11pm. The journey time from London to Oxford is about 50 minutes for direct service and 90 minutes for a stopping service. The train arrives at Oxford Station which is a five minute walk to Oxford City centre. There is a fast direct train service from Paddington to Heathrow airport, it takes about 15 minutes and runs every 15 minutes.

London to Oxford by bus
Buses to Oxford run from Victoria Coach Station gate10, and Buckingham Palace Road outside Victoria station. There are two bus companies serving Oxford, journey times are around 100 minutes. Buses run all through the night, and at peak times are every 12-15 minutes. The London to Oxford buses all arrive at Gloucester Green station in Oxford City centre, but do stop at other locations on the way into Oxford.
