The Heaton Park Animal Centre / Farm Centre Courtyard is a great place to take the kids. You can meet many commnon farmyard animals as well as more exotic species such as alpacas. The animal centre also has a number of rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry. There is also a small themed play area in the Animal Centre. Larger animals, such as Highland horned cattle and donkeys are also homed at the centre, although petting is strictly limited.
