
There is just one direct National Express bus service a day from Portsmouth's Hard interchange bus station to Bath that leaves at 08:55. The journey takes 3 hours. There are another 5 coaches that connect at London Victoria or Heathrow Airport – these take 5 – 7 ½ hours. A single ticket costs about 19 GBP and a return costs 23 GBP - 27 GBP. After booking online, you will be issued with an e-ticket, which you need to print out and take with you, or an m-ticket, which is sent to your mobile phone. If you buy a ticket for a specific bus time, the ticket is normally honoured for 24 hours from your original departure time should you be delayed.

The train is your best option for getting between Portsmouth and Bath - it’s faster than the coach and it runs regularly. There is direct train every hour to Bath. The journey time is just over 2 hours. A single journey is around 11.50 GBP or an off peak return is about 33 GBP.
You get the best fares by booking up to three months in advance. You can buy your tickets online, at the station ticket counter, or from the ticket machines. If you book online you will need to collect your tickets from the ticket machine using the same credit card you used to book your tickets online.
